Yalumba

Yalumba is Australia's most historic family-owned winery, located in the heart of the Barossa.

In 1849, British Samuel Smith bought 30 hectares of land in Angaston and planted the first grapes in the moonlight. Samuel named the piece of land 'Yalumba', Aboriginal for 'All the land around'. Six generations and 160 years later, Yalumba Winery, the oldest family-owned winery in Australia, has grown considerably in size and status. Yalumba characterises itself as a family business with a modern outlook. In 1970, for instance, Yalumba was the first winery in the world to introduce Riesling wines with a screw cap. They produce a wide range of quality wines, winning numerous awards.
